Frequently Asked Questions

1. About RO NEW YORK

What is RO NEW YORK?

RO NEW YORK is a global creative and communications agency. We create, reposition and transform brands in luxury, hospitality, travel, beauty, wellness and consumer goods.

Who founded the agency?

Rony Zeidan, Founder and Chief Creative Officer. For more than 25 years, he has worked at the forefront of brand creation, repositioning and transformation.

Where are you based?

New York. Our clients are not so local: the work spans countries, categories and audiences.

What makes RO NEW YORK different?

We start with research, not a hunch. Every project begins with a close study of the client, its customers, and its competition. Then expertise, insight, and instinct do the rest.

One team carries the idea from strategy through production, so the thinking does not get diluted as the work moves from one discipline to another.

What does “research first” mean?

It means we do not begin with design. We first establish what the brand needs to mean, who it needs to matter to and where it can credibly win.

Research may include qualitative and quantitative customer research, competitive analysis, audience definition, category assessment and stakeholder interviews, depending on the assignment.

Are you affiliated with Ro or RO Health?

No. Similar names, separate companies. RO NEW YORK is not associated with RO Health, or any other company with a similar name.

Who is RO BOT?

RO BOT is our AI assistant. It can answer questions about the agency, our services, and our case studies. For everything else, there are humans: info@ro-ny.com.

2. Services and capabilities

What services do you offer?

We offer six connected disciplines:

  • Strategy: Qualitative and quantitative research to identify the white space and the story that can claim it
  • Identity: An ownable visual language for that story
  • Packaging: Identity made tactile, from large-scale experiences to an 8 oz. bottle
  • Digital: Websites, e-commerce and apps, designed and developed in-house
  • Communication: Brand expression across video, radio, out-of-home, direct mail, experiential and B2B marketing
  • Production: The right partners procured and the process managed from A to Z

Do you do strategy as well as creative?

Yes. Strategy comes first: research, analysis, positioning and story. The creative follows from it, never the other way around.

Do you conduct customer research?

Yes. We use qualitative and quantitative research to understand audiences, identify opportunities and inform positioning. The right methodology depends on the business question, category and scope of work.

Do you create brand strategy and positioning?

Yes. We develop the strategic foundation for a brand: its audience, competitive space, positioning, story, architecture and direction. That work can lead into identity, packaging, digital and communications, or stand on its own when appropriate.

Do you work on brand naming?

Yes. Naming can be part of a broader brand creation, repositioning or transformation engagement.

Do you create visual identities and brand guidelines?

Yes. We create visual identities and the systems that make them usable: logos, typography, color, art direction, imagery, verbal expression and brand guidelines.

Can you work within existing brand guidelines?

Yes. Not every assignment calls for starting over. We can extend, evolve or transform an existing identity while preserving the elements that still have value.

Do you design and build websites?

Yes, in-house. The people who design the experience are the people who develop it, which makes for a more coherent result from first wireframe through launch.

Our Digital Transformation work covers website, e-commerce and app capabilities in more detail.

Do you offer e-commerce and digital product work?

Yes. Depending on the assignment, we can create and develop e-commerce experiences, brand websites, digital platforms, and apps.

Do you create advertising campaigns?

Yes. We create digital campaigns and TV advertising, along with video, radio, out-of-home, direct mail, experiential and B2B marketing. We measure what runs and adjust the strategy as the work is in market.

Do you handle packaging design?

Yes. We create packaging that makes the brand tangible, whether the application is a consumer product, a retail environment, a hospitality touchpoint or another physical expression of the brand.

Do you handle production?

Yes. We bring in the right partners and oversee the process end to end, with a close eye on creative quality, timing and cost.

Do you work with freelance creatives or production partners?

Our senior creative team is full-time. When a project requires specialist expertise or production capacity, we identify, procure and manage the appropriate external partners

Do you work on B2B brands?

Yes. B2B marketing is part of our communications work. A business audience is still an audience.

Do you offer support after launch?

Yes. Depending on the engagement, we can continue to support implementation, campaigns, digital, production, measurement and the brand’s next stage of evolution.

3. Industries, clients and work

Which industries do you specialize in?

Luxury, hospitality, travel, beauty, wellness and consumer goods. Our work also reaches into fashion, media, food and beverage.

Do you only work with hotels?

No. Hospitality is where we go deepest, not the only place we go. Our case studies range from Kohler and Exuviance to Yahoo and Hearst.

Do you work with new brands or established ones?

Both. We create brands, reposition brands and transform brands. The starting point changes; the research does not.

Do you work with startups?

Yes. We work with new and established businesses when there is a meaningful brand challenge to solve and the ambition to solve it well.

What size clients do you work with?

We work with organizations ranging from emerging brands to global companies. The common denominator is ambition: clients looking to create, reposition or transform a brand.

Do you work with clients outside New York?

Yes. RO NEW YORK is New York-based, but our work and clients are global.

Can you work internationally?

Yes. We work across markets and can structure research, collaboration, production and rollout around an international team or audience.

Who have you worked with?

We have worked with over 150 brands. Recent clients include Hyatt, Marriott International, Hilton, Choice Hotels, Sonesta, The Luxury Collection, Preferred Travel Group, Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau, Kohler, Yahoo, Hearst, Exuviance, Kástra Elión, The HRT Club and NuvaRing.

Do you work with competing brands in the same category?

Yes. Depth in a category is often why clients come to us. Every engagement is confidential, and every brand receives a strategy of its own.

Where can I see your work?

Visit our case studies. Each one shows both the work and the thinking behind it.

I do not see a case study for the brand or category I have in mind. Can you share relevant work?

Not everything we make becomes a public case study. Email info@ro-ny.com, and we can share relevant work where confidentiality permits.

Is there an agency reel?

Yes. The homepage includes a reel of recent work, at a glance.

4. Process and engagement

How does a project begin?

With research. Before we design anything, we study three things: the client, its customers, and its competition.

What does your process look like?

Our process generally moves through five stages:

  • Research: Client, customer and competition
  • Strategy: The white space, and the story that claims it
  • Identity: A visual and verbal language built to own that story
  • Rollout: Packaging, digital and communications across the touchpoints that matter
  • Measurement: Tracking what works and adjusting as the brand enters the market

The exact sequence and deliverables change with the assignment. A brand launch, a hospitality repositioning, and a digital transformation do not require the same path.

Who will actually work on my project?

A senior RO team remains involved throughout the engagement. Strategy, creative, and execution work together rather than passing the project from department to department.

Can you work with our in-house team or other agencies?

Yes. We regularly work alongside in-house marketing, brand, digital, and leadership teams, as well as specialist agencies and external partners.

Can you lead a project with multiple stakeholders?

Yes. Complex organizations often require alignment across leadership, marketing, operations, ownership, development, sales, and outside partners. The process is designed to turn that input into a clear strategic and creative direction.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the scope. A campaign is not a rebrand, and a rebrand is not a website. Timing depends on the assignment, the number of stakeholders, research needs, production requirements, and the speed of decision-making.
Email info@ro-ny.com to discuss the timing for your project.

How much does a project cost?

Every scope is priced on its own terms, so we do not publish rates. The cost depends on the challenge, deliverables, timeline, research, production needs, and scale of rollout.

Tell us what you need at info@ro-ny.com, and a member of the team will be in touch.

Can you work within a fixed budget?

Yes. A clear budget range helps us recommend the right scope, sequence, and level of ambition. It lets the first conversation focus on what will create the most value rather than on a generic list of deliverables.

Do you prepare pitch presentations or speculative creative?

No. Good ideas come after research and analysis, and those begin when the project does. We are glad to walk prospective clients through relevant case studies, our approach, and the people who would lead the work.

Can you tell us what you would do with our brand before we engage?

Not yet. A tagline without research is a guess. Once the project begins and the strategic work is underway, we will have plenty to say.

Can you work under an NDA?

Yes. Confidentiality is standard practice, and we are happy to discuss an NDA when appropriate.

How do you measure success?

Against the goals established in strategy. Depending on the engagement, those may include perception, awareness, consideration, conversion, engagement, sales, bookings, traffic or other business measures. We track the work in market and adjust as needed.

What happens after launch?

Launch is not the end of the work. Depending on the engagement, we can support rollout, training, partner management, campaign development, production, measurement, and continued brand evolution.

5. Contact, press and careers

How do I start a conversation?

Email info@ro-ny.com or use the contact form on this site. A member of the team will take it from there.

What should I include in my inquiry?

The most useful first note includes:

  • Your brand or organization
  • The challenge you want to solve
  • The services or outcomes you have in mind
  • Your timing
  • The key decision-makers or stakeholders
  • A budget range, if one is available

The more context you can provide, the more useful the first conversation will be.

Are you hiring?

We are always glad to meet good people. Send a note and your work to info@ro-ny.com.
